Unlocking the Code: Strengthening Literacy through Morphology and Word Study

How can the study of morphemes (roots, prefixes, and suffixes) dramatically improve student spelling, vocabulary acquisition, and reading comprehension? By understanding the "why" behind English spelling, students gain the tools to decode and define over 60% of the multisyllabic words they encounter in academic texts. During this session we will study the power of morphology, explore how to move beyond the weekly spelling list, and engage in practical classroom routines to strengthen students understanding of words.
